PART TWO: THE GYM STATION
Maison&Objet asked Peclers Paris to design the inspiration theme for its next edition (18-22 January 2024), TECH EDEN: a new natural awakening, which explores the profound evolution of the relationship between science and nature as the basis for a sustainable and desirable future. The teams of futurists and designers at Peclers Paris have set the scene in INSPIRE ME!, the show’s inspiration forum, with possible applications of this science and nature reconciliation to the hospitality sector.
GARDEN FROM THE FUTURE: HOSPITALITY UNDER THE SIGN OF BIOPHILIC ESCAPES
The Peclers Paris vision: in the medium term, visitors to hospitality venues who are looking for new forms of escape will want them to be more than just functional spaces and, for some, just spaces where to pass through. To stop them, prolong their visit and, above all, keep them coming back, the hospitality industry will be using hybridization and events to transform their venues into unique, unexpected, sensitive and versatile experiences. Well-being will be at the heart of each of these experiences, no longer as a moment ‘on the side’ but as a common thread running through life: a principle for organizing daily life, respecting biophilic rhythms: an awakening, active and regenerative phase.
ACTIVE PHASE CAPSULE: THE GYM STATION
In the quest to make the most of everyday life, intermissions are transformed into a continual opportunity for activity. Places of transit are resolutely moving away from boredom and, through sport, are helping to look after body and mind.
Here, a train station waiting room becomes a place to take an active break and re-energize through reading or physical exercise. At the heart of the installation is an exercise bike, the result of a collaboration between Ciclotte and digital design studio RHNH, a delicate, unreal disc that seems to be suspended in front of an immersive video by artist Roxi Basa.
Everything in this space is an invitation to take advantage of a moment’s pause to get moving and travel into new imaginary worlds. Isolated among the others by a pair of Dyson air-purifying headphones and the enveloping shapes of Ciryl Zakrzewski’s Dune chair, we are carried away by the hybrid imagination conjured up by the object, a reminiscence of an elsewhere never visited.
Unless, of course, you decide to be just passing through, traveling in style with a Crash pre-cabbed trolley (so you’ll always have a trace of your travels), enjoying the collective sound of a Pantheone loudspeaker, a sound sculpture with organic and unusual shapes, after having quenched your thirst at the futuristic fountain in the Finemateria studio, under the energizing light of a lamp by Laurids Gallée.
