PART THREE: THE SPA ROOM

Maison&Objet asked Peclers Paris to design the inspiration theme for its next edition (18-22 January 2024), TECH EDEN: a new natural awakening, which explores the profound evolution of the relationship between science and nature as the basis for a sustainable and desirable future. The teams of futurists and designers at Peclers Paris have set the scene in INSPIRE ME!, the show’s inspiration forum, with possible applications of this science and nature reconciliation to the hospitality sector.

GARDEN FROM THE FUTURE: HOSPITALITY UNDER THE SIGN OF BIOPHILIC ESCAPES

The Peclers Paris vision: in the medium term, visitors to hospitality venues who are looking for new forms of escape will want them to be more than just functional spaces and, for some, just spaces where to pass through. To stop them, prolong their visit and, above all, keep them coming back, the hospitality industry will be using hybridization and events to transform their venues into unique, unexpected, sensitive and versatile experiences. Well-being will be at the heart of each of these experiences, no longer as a moment ‘on the side’ but as a common thread running through life: a principle for organizing daily life, respecting biophilic rhythms: an awakening, active and regenerative phase.

REGENERATIVE PHASE CAPSULE: THE SPA ROOM

Enjoying a beneficial regenerative interlude in an intimate bubble is the ultimate pampering experience. The hotel room can become the place – individual and, which is an absolute luxury, private – for this experience, if all its components are designed to make it an ultra-personalized protective cocoon.

The centerpiece of this spa room is not its bed but a ‘sound bath’, where you can lie back and enjoy an enveloping and relaxing acoustic experience. A high-fidelity experience thanks to Cabasse speakers to enhance a playlist tuned to its audience and its moods by Studio Olympe.

From the facial yoga videos created by the Narcisse massage and holistic health studio to the sensory tech objects, everything has been designed to stimulate and regenerate the senses. The materials are enveloping and sensual (walls with bouncing patterns by Juliette Berthonneau and panels made from recycled oyster shells by Ostrea); the aesthetic and narrative sophistication of every object, no matter how functional (Laufen washbasins and toilets, like sculptures, Luin Living bathroom accessories); organic shapes that plunge visitors into a natural world fantasized by the imaginations of the future (Jessica Boubetra‘s arborescent stool, Eng Piplard‘s ‘heat ball’ hot-water bottles). On this journey, the hotel room is a destination in itself, a place to embark on a second journey through the senses and the experience of beauty.

DESIGNERS AND CONTRIBUTORS

DELIUS

Founded in Bielefeld in 1722, Delius develops flame-retardant blackout fabrics and curtains, as well as decorative and furnishing fabrics. In addition to their high quality and aesthetic standards, they are characterized by a wide range of functionalities: darkening, acoustic, anti-bacterial, energy conservation or anti-glare.

NARCISSE

Narcisse (by Louise Robert) offers tailor-made facial and skin treatments. These intimate treatments are performed in the privacy of your own home, hidden from view, to better adapt to the emotional state of everyone. To imagine the visual and auditory device designed to convey the holistic dimension of her approach, Louise Robert called on video artist and microprobe specialist Alexandre de Bellefeuille.

OSTREA

Ostrea was born of a meeting between its founders and Breton oyster farmers in Riec-sur-Bélon, in southern Finistère. There, they discovered that the shells from their farms were not being recycled and were ending their lives in landfill sites.  They decided to turn this waste into a resource by creating a recycled, low-carbon material made in France.
