«Transformation is tomorrow’s creativity»
Knit Focus: Gabrielle Baggio, Knit, Cut & Sew book’s director shares her analysis of Pitti Filati FW22-23 trade show.
Introduction
For its 89th edition, Pitti Filati welcomes us to the famous “stazione leopolda”, in the historical part, for a smaller fair with presentations, spinners, and a vintage showroom.
The theme of the show is influenced by the year 2020, which has been marked by Covid, social distancing and digital advancements. The return to the physical seems important with the return to life, to nature and to well-being. Questioning and reevaluating are required to change and transform.
We must be ready for changes in plans, we must adapt in our daily lives as well as in our creative processes.
To encourage a new vision of the future, because fashion in general is the mirror of this situation, oscillating between present and future, the status quo and the unknown, the classic and the avant-garde.
Seasonal theme
A general theme around the word “TRANSFORMATION” which is articulated around 3 axes:
- Transformation of the body “BODY” – focus on customization/personalization.
- Space transformation “SPACE” – focus sustainability/Nature
- Transformation of our “DEVICE” system

A season full of knitwear animation and colours.
- FINE GAUGE OR HEAVY GAUGE KNITTED FABRIC
